Exactech/Optetrak Knee Implant
Exactech has designed and sold a knee implant devices for 30 years. Our focus is on the recent history of the Optetrak knee implant system. Exactech has put out varying versions of the Optetrak knee implant in 1994, 1997, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2009, 2011, 2012, and 2013.
When the newest model was put on the market in 2013, Exactech executed a “silent recall.” Exactech instructed sales reps and distributors to discontinue promoting the Optetrak knee that used the “finned” tibial tray and replace all inventory with the 2013 knee implant that used the “fit” tibial tray because of serious issues with the cement failing to properly adhere to the “finned” models. We are currently aware of “fin” tray models continuing to be used at least through 2014.
Our initial intake criteria:
- Implant of Exactech Optetrak knee 2009 through 2015 (any knee implant done during this time period will be accepted if potential client does not know manufacturer), AND
- Revision surgery due to tibial loosening (any reported revision surgery or indicated need for revision surgery will be accepted on initial intake even if potential client is not sure of reason for the needed surgery)
